Anecdotes about the domain
Son of Breton farmers who emigrated to the United States, born in Manhattan and Franco-American, Patrick RETY realized his dream: to make wine, to work on the expression of the terroir. The domain is in biodynamic farming. The work of the vineyard and the wine are made according to the lunar cycles
The domain's short story
Domaine RETY was created in 2012 with the following values: to make exceptional wines of high quality, while respecting nature. Faced with these challenges, we are in conversion to organic farming in order to respect nature. The wine guides quickly enhanced our wines: Guide hachette 2012: 2 stars Guide Gilbert & Gaillard 2016: 90+, Concours des vignerons indépendants 2015: Gold medal, Guide Robert Parker: 90
The winemaker's pride
Domaine RETY was created in 2012 and is located in the small village of Espira de l'Agly in the Languedoc Roussillon region. This territory with a very varied relief is bordered by the Corbières massif of the Pyrenees with the Canigou mountain. The Domaine RETY covers an area of 4 hectares where the vines, with an average age of 20 years, have been planted on the gravelly slopes of the appellation. Three grape varieties are grown on the estate: Grenache noir, a fine and elegant grape variety with red fruit notes, Syrah which improves with time with aromas of red fruit, licorice, and violet; and Mourvèdre, a grape variety from the Mediterranean coast which gives a full-bodied wine, appreciated for its tannins and spicy aromas. Carefully worked, the grapes are harvested, vinified and bottled at the domain. The Domaine RETY produces three high quality wines: Gold, Côtes du Roussillon village, Vintage 2015, red wine with an exceptional dress, peppery nose. A Roussillon with greedy and typical aromas. Insolente, Côtes du Roussillon, Vintage 2014. Supple red wine with a fine nose and a suave mouth, Rebel, Côtes du Roussillon, Vintage 2015. Rosé wine with fresh qualities and a beautiful mouth.
