The Château de Minière cultivates 29ha of vines of which 2ha are old (very old) vines from 90 to 110 years old. The king grape variety grown by Kathleen is Cabernet Franc which she then vinifies to offer 8 cuvées (red and rosé) and a grape juice: wines from the Bourgueil appellation 100% Cabernet!
Since its beginning in 2010 it respects the soils and biodiversity, in conversion since day one. It obtains the organic label in 2013.
Nestled in the Loire Valley, Château de Minière is a 29-hectare vineyard certified in organic agriculture. Our estate produces still and sparkling red and rosé wines, with the emblematic grape variety of the appellation, Cabernet Franc.
The elegance of our wines is the result of the alliance between tradition and innovation. Our vintages in amphora and wooden casks, as well as our hundred-year-old
vines, are testimony to this.
A true ecological ambassador, we make it a point of honour to make our estate a showcase for biodiversity. A
LPO (League for the Protection of Birds) refuge since 2015, we are proud to be home to more than 50
protected bird species.
Witnesses of our commitment, our foragers bees, are the permanent residents of the mining park. Respecting and preserving nature is the DNA of our estate.
Don't hesitate to come and visit us for a tasting, a picnic in the vineyard, or even a weekend at the estate. The
accommodation at the Château de Minière, its gîtes and swimming pool will amaze
you.
Come and live a complete wine experience.
Kathleen.
The estate was acquired in 2010 by a Belgian couple, Kathleen Van den Berghe and Sigurd Mareels. For several centuries the vineyard has been managed by women: Kathleen has been perpetuating the tradition with her team. When Kathleen was in the vineyard, Sigurd worked in the mining industry: he played a decisive role in the acquisition of the property thanks to his activity... and in the choice of name too!
