On the older vintages, 1986 proves to be a delicate and tender wine without any excess of sugar, with a minty, fresh and finely bitter finish. 17,5/20 - (GaultMillau 2007). This 1986 is an astonishing success, superior to the tenors of the appellation: splendid nose of candied orange, richness of constitution of a great vintage, perfectly roasted liquor, in short, great ageing guaranteed. A wonderful honeyed nose with a whiff of toasty oak is followed by an opulent, intense, rich, glycerinfilled, full-bodied, beautifully balanced Sauternes that should drink well for another 10-15 years. It is undoubtedly the best example I have ever tasted from this property. Very bright golden yellow. Very complex nose, very fruity, roasted and candied fruit, gorse flower, mimosa. In mouth a good attack and a beautiful palette of flavors with fruity accents (candied fruits, dried apricots). A very good final and a great length. Excellent wine.
