It was in 2006 that Anne Gros, 6th generation of a family of winegrowers in Vosne Romanée in Burgundy, and Jean Paul Tollot, 5th generation of a family of winegrowers in Chorey les Beaune, discovered a small corner lost in the far northeast of the Minervois: Cazelles. It is a real favorite for its unique clay-limestone soils (the limestones of Agel, those that sing under our feet), its marls and sandstones of Assignan. Its position at an altitude of 220 metres at the gateway to the Haut Languedoc Natural Park in sumptuous and protected landscapes as well as the old vines of Carignan, Cinsaults, Syrahs and Grenaches will complete their decision to undertake haute couture work there. The project will therefore take the form of the acquisition of 15 hectares and the construction of a cellar attentive to energy savings and the environment. Since then, a few additional plots have been acquired with the idea of working in a Burgundy style parcel. Some new varieties are even starting to be planted there....

Our story

We each have 30 years of experience in Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Not having the opportunity to work together in Burgundy, we decided to try the adventure in the kingdom of the Carignans and Cinsaults. The Syrahs, Grenaches and Marselans also join the dance, which gives us 8 wines of different parcel origins. The vision is simple: purity of expression. The work is rigorous. We are supported by Thibaut, a young Languedoc native who brings his knowledge of the field and our son Paul who has decided to join us and is slowly taking root.

Other little stories

Very independent, we do not recognize ourselves in any movement out of humility before the forces of nature. With an open mind, we are gradually making progress in our global understanding of the soil, grape varieties, wind, sun and rain. If we had to summarize, it is clear that understanding the water cycle, the direction of the wind and the power of light helps us to find the way for each wine that is here signed by its soils and its vintage.

We have always believed that sharing a good meal with a good bottle is a proof of knowing how to live, not only an act of generosity, but also an act of respect. Nature does not give us wine, but we must be attentive to it through respectful work. For us, this is the work of a winegrower.
