We took over the estate from our father François in 2012, to whom we owe our passion for the winemaking profession. Above all, we are independent, planting, raising, harvesting and processing our grapes to rediscover our character, our enthusiasm and our convictions in our bottles. Being very present in our vines and close to their evolution over the seasons, we can afford to practice a reasoned homeopathic viticulture, using in particular organic organic fertilizer where ladybirds, earthworms and butterflies play hide and seek. Our predominantly clay-limestone soils bring freshness, fruit and minerality to our vintages. Some hard clays put our vines in difficulty, the latter then provide us with small yields improving at the same time the character and concentration of matter for rich and unique wines.
Our grandfather Lucien, who was a grain farmer, had a small vineyard and made "the drink" for the workers of the estate, our father François decided in the 80s to replant a few vines and try to make Reuilly wine; an appellation in total decline which only included about twenty hectares, a period when the grain growers were uprooting the vines to put wheat, more profitable at the time. He has at all costs continued to develop his field as a self-taught but above all passionate person. His field in which we, Jean-Baptiste and Géraud, have grown up, the same field in which we are raising our children today. Passionate since our youngest age, one studied oenology in Bordeaux, the other in Burgundy to arrive ready, full of knowledge and desire to take up the torch. Present on the estate since 2008, we took over the family estate in 2012 to write its history. We develop new vintages, always closer to our terroir, our convictions, and your pleasure.
To be a winegrower is above all to be crazy! Spending 8-9 months a year in the vineyards in the cold of winter and the heat of summer to get a few bunches of grapes is crazy! But that's where it all starts.... The best winemaker in the world can never make a good wine if he does not have a good raw material, it is with this in mind that we pamper our vines to have the prettiest grapes, and make the prettiest wine.
Our first memory of both of us is this famous "four-bill shooter", an old tool that our father used for his first bottling. It was simple; put an empty bottle in, wait until it fills up enough but not too much, remove it and cork it. If we overfilled the bottle, the cork would push the wine and splash us in the face! It was then that with a lot of professionalism (and discretion!), we removed the slight overflow from a swig, our first tastings had just come to fruition.
