Today, the estate is composed of 38 hectares and includes seven grape varieties selected for their qualities. These grape varieties have been carefully planted according to their adaptation to our terroirs. Our sandy-clay plots give the fruitiest wines, while our gravel plots, made of pebbles brought by the Agout river, give the most concentrated wines. Thanks to the proximity of the river we benefit from a micro-climate favorable to a beautiful maturity of the grapes in autumn, with cool nights after the strong heat of the day. Always in the search of an autonomy of the vine, we do not bring fertilizers. We harvest only the quantities that the vine can give us naturally. Depending on the vigor of the vines, we let the vegetation cover develop completely on certain plots or alternately on other plots. This encourages biodiversity. The harvest is triggered by observing the surrounding nature: The Sauvignon Blanc reaches its optimum maturity when the blackberries around the plot are delicious! For the merlot harvest, it's a race with the partridges who with their delicacy can go faster than us. We started the conversion to organic farming in the summer of 2020 and will be certified this year!

Our story

The estate was created in 1989 by the pharmacist Pierre Fabre, founder of the laboratories of the same name, who was passionate about botany and the products of the earth. Following the refusal of the local winegrowers to join the PDO, Mr. Pierre Fabre sought to develop the quality of the wine and the vines under his own name of Domaine D'en Ségur. Lionel, a trained oenologist, first managed the vineyard and then, following the departure of Caroline Schaller, took over the vinification.

Other little stories

I chose the profession of winegrower to keep a link with nature and to be able to create from A to Z a product that brings pleasure to those who consume it. Since I was a child, I have always loved to eat and make culinary discoveries. As I grew up, I discovered the world of wine and the magic of gastronomic combinations. I am a fan of Sauvignon Blanc my dream would be to go around the world of Sauvignon Blanc! In general I like aromatic wines. While working in the Jurançon region, I had the chance to meet a passionate and exciting man, Mr Henri Ramonteu, Domaine Cauhapé, who calls himself an aroma tamer and who produces great wines.

I like the friendly aspect brought by a bottle. You never open a bottle with someone you don't like. My personal touch is to seek to have aromatic and clean wines, whether for light wines of pleasure or more concentrated. I am transported by the pleasure of discovering wines from different regions and continents. The intellectualization of tasting annoys me, I am more interested in pleasure than in the chemical analysis of wine.
