The domaine des conquests was created in 1996 by Philippe Ellner my father. We are of Champagne origin and it was while coming on holiday that he fell in love with the Languedoc terroir. He first bought a few vines and brought the harvest to the cooperative cellar. Then in 1997, the first Guillaume cuvée was created in a nod to Guillaume the Conqueror. The estate is located in Aniane in Languedoc-Roussillon, between Montpellier and Béziers in the heart of the Hérault valley. We are currently working on 13 hectares of diversified soils: clay-limestone, rolled pebbles, yellow marl. We practice a reasoned agriculture and take a particular care in the elaboration of our products, from the work of the vine to the vinification of our wines. Our estate is certified H.V.E Level 3 since 2018.

Our story

Coming from a training in cattle breeding, I gradually turned to the family farm. Getting a taste day after day for the varied work of the vine and the complexity of the elaboration of our wines. The apple never falls far from the tree!

Other little stories

I grew up in a family of passionate winegrowers, the Ellners have been making wine from father to son for several generations. First in champagne and now in Languedoc. My path was clear. Today I hope to be up to the task of succeeding my father with dignity. To be able to follow in his footsteps while distinguishing myself in my own way. Bring freshness and modernity to the estate.

Thanks to our diversity of soils, we can work with several grape varieties, all more varied from each other. The great classic and the one I like to work on the most: Syrah, I use it in most of my vintages and work it in different ways. We have recently planted a new Italian grape variety, Sangioves, which is more resistant to our climate. Our originality is our culture, halfway between champagne and Languedoc. This gives us completely different perspectives from those of our fellow winegrowers.
