The Domaine des Gravennes is located in the heart of the Drôme provençale under the protective gaze of the castle of Suze la Rousse. Luc and Rémi took over the family estate two years ago and work around common values: protection of the terroir and the environment with organic wines, conviviality and the constant search for balance and elegance.
The etymology of the word Gravennes is Gar which means "stony place". The white grape varieties (white grenache, marsanne, roussane and viogner), typical of the Rhone valley, are planted on sandy soils which bring finesse and freshness to the white wines.
It is on this so particular soil which is composed of a mixture of alluvial, sandy and stony grounds that the vines of grenache, syrah and mourvèdre produce fine, round and structured red wines.
For the past 3 years, the Domaine des Gravennes has welcomed its fourth generation of winemakers with Luc and Rémi. Luc is the younger of the two brothers. He came back to the domain in 2011 after having enriched himself with human and viticultural experiences in the 4 corners of the world.
The older brother, Rémi, left his life as an engineer in Paris to return to the land of his childhood. Together, they perpetuate a family history in the respect of common values: protection of the terroir and its environment, conviviality, constant search for balance and elegance.
For Rémi and Luc, being a winemaker means getting the best out of the land to bring pleasure and conviviality.
Luc's best wine-related memory is during a tasting of an Echezeaux 2011 with his friend Vincent from Domaine Gros Frère et Sœur.
