Our story

After studying psychology, Guilhem Barré decided to change his path and follow his passion. He begins studies in viticulture and oenology. With his diploma in hand, he joins his wife Béatrice who leaves to work in Carcassonne. After ten years, he decided to complete his project: to make his own wine and to work with respect for life and nature. He bought 4.5 ha in 2008, (then 2 ha more a few years later) and created the estate, located on the outskirts of Carcassonne in the commune of Ventenac-Cabardès. Today, Guilhem Barré passionately cultivates 6.5 ha of vines at the foot of the first foothills of the Montagne Noire. Wines without artificeAt Guilhem Barré, the vines are grown organically, without chemical fertilizers or weed killers, preferring to add organic matter and ploughing to keep the soil alive. The protection of the vineyard is carried out exclusively with organic products. All synthetic products are prohibited. This respect for the terroir allows a good conservation of the yeasts naturally found on the grape skin. Fermentation therefore takes place without the addition of industrial yeasts. The result is wines without artifice, marked by their terroir of origin.

Other little stories

It is with a deep respect for living things and a firm intention to promote his land that he adopts organic farming. In just a few years, he has propelled his wines to the top, and is restoring its letters of nobility to a small appellation lost between the Atlantic and the Mediterranean. Guilhem Barré is at the helm. He works alone on the estate and is supported by his wife. He works both in the vineyard, from the first stroke of the pruning shears, through lifting and de-stemming, observation and care of the vines, and in the cellar. His vintages bear the winegrower's stamp and resemble him: they are sincere, singular and authentic.
