Oscillating between cherry and purple with impressive purple reflections, the Classic Rouge owes its pretty color to the Syrah grape, which gives the wine a significant blue component. The color is clear, the disk quite brilliant. The nose is clean and straightforward, with a sequence of aromas that go from blackberry to licorice, a note of peppercorns and an interesting fresh touch; some would say mentholated, but which also evokes the eucalyptus leaf rubbed between the hands. The palate is round and supple, reminiscent of black cherry with a return of the famous peppery note, garrigue style typical of Languedoc Syrah. The balance is perfect, with melted tannins that give this wine a remarkable fruitiness and freshness, signature of the best that the Pic Saint Loup terroir can offer.
