POUVARET VIGNERONS Château GRAND-MAISON

We took over Château GRAND-MAISON in August 2020, in the middle of the Covid period... Yes we like challenges! We are Guillaume & Gwennaëlle, married in life and married at work, one is a confirmed oenologist, the other is learning her job as a winegrower, one foot in the vineyard, one foot in the cellar.It is while enjoying a beautiful table that we realized that one day we also wanted to create beautiful emotions. We started looking for that nugget that could meet our requirements and allow a nice commercial dynamic. The great strength of this 12-hectare property, 7 of which are planted with vines, lies in the quality of its soils (clay-limestone, clay-gravel and red silt from the Bourgeais) and its dominant position facing the Dordogne and Garonne rivers. The panoramic view of Bordeaux and the Medoc is magnificent, we will let you judge it during a visit in the middle of the vineyards.the preserved vineyard is planted with Malbec (60 years old for some parcels), Merlot and Cabernet Franc.the interventions in the vineyard are done manually and the work of the soil by our draft horses. Organic farming was an obvious starting point... We seek to produce wines rich in emotions reflecting our sensitivities and the exceptional character of our terroirs.

Our story

After two years we are beginning to feel the benefits of the daily care given to this jewel. Our vines are more resistant to the sometimes brutal variations of the climate and we can now better perceive the intimacy of the property.
