The AOC Minervois is located on the Piedmont of the Black mountain, straddling the Aude and Hérault, and extends over an area of 4250 hectares which allows to produce about 181,500 hectolitres of Minervois wines a year. This establishment at the foot of the Black Mountain allows the wine yard to be protected from the winds of the North. However the climate varies a lot on the Area: the east is characterized by a Mediterranean climate and marine winds laden with humidity, the West is marked by Atlantic influxes and finally at the center which turns out to be the hottest zone, the climate is Very dry. The composition of the soil, like the climate, is also diverse and varied.. Stony soils, Limestone and shale are found.
This appellation produces mainly Minervois wines or red wines from the following varietals: the carignan, the black grenache, the Syrah and the Mourvèdre. These red wines have good custody potentials so you should buy Minervois wines. The rosé and white wines are to be drunk young and are for the rosé wines produced from the same grape varieties as the red wines and from: Grenache B, bourboulenc, maccabeu, marsanne, Roussanne and vermentino.
