Picardan 2023

Châteauneuf-Du-Pape | White | 2023

The winemaking process for this wine is based on a respectful approach to the vine, with organic certification and no major oenological additives. The Picardan, a rare and ancient grape variety, expresses itself fully thanks to the terroir of rolled pebbles over red clay, offering freshness and finesse. Skin maceration and low-temperature fermentation preserve the delicate aromas, while aging in stainless steel tanks highlights the purity and authenticity of the grape.

Our opinion on the vintage

This wine captivates from the moment it's opened with a rich and evolving nose, delicately blending pastry notes, hints of ripe pear, and smoky, mineral nuances. On the palate, it seduces with its enveloping, silky texture, perfectly balanced by a tension that brings freshness and depth. The long, spicy finish unfolds with refined elegance. A wine with a strong personality, highlighting the unique character of Picardan and the singularity of its terroir.

Domaine Ampelhus

Domaine Ampelhus

Vallée du Rhône | France

In Faugères, Domaine Ampelhus relies on schist soils, characteristic of the appellation, which favor structured and elegant expressions. The vineyard is planted mainly with Syrah, Grenache, and Carignan, Mediterranean grape varieties interpreted here in a quest for balance rather than power.

The vineyard is managed using organic practices, allowing for precise soil analysis and careful control of grape ripeness. In the cellar, winemaking is carried out gently to preserve the purity of the fruit and the finesse of the textures. Extractions are kept to a minimum, without seeking to increase concentration.

The wines exhibit a tight structure and consistent tension, supported by precise and restrained aromatics. Their profiles avoid excessive ripeness, favoring clarity and precision. The estate's work as a whole offers a measured and coherent interpretation of Faugères, grounded in freshness, structure, and a faithful expression of the terroir.
