Domaine Jean Foillard

Beaujolais | France

Located in Villié-Morgon, at the heart of one of Beaujolais' most emblematic crus, Domaine Jean Foillard is today an absolute benchmark for lovers of great terroir Gamays. A key figure in the Beaujolais revival, Jean Foillard very early on chose viticulture that respects living organisms and natural vinification, following in the footsteps of the pioneers who restored the region's reputation.

The vines, often over 50 years old, plunge their roots into the granitic soils typical of Morgon, bringing depth, structure, and a unique mineral signature to the wines. Here, there are no artificial interventions: manual harvesting, indigenous yeasts, little to no sulfur, long and gentle macerations to extract the fruit without harshness. Everything is designed to preserve the purity of the grape and the most sincere expression of the place.

Jean Foillard's wines are distinguished by their aromatic brilliance and textural finesse. Crisp red fruits, black cherry, peony, notes of sweet spices, and sometimes a touch of undergrowth compose bouquets of great elegance. On the palate, there is a remarkable balance between deliciousness and depth: a juicy texture, supported by vibrant freshness and silky tannins, with a length that is always surprising for wines made from Gamay.

Capable of immediate pleasure as well as superb aging, the estate's cuvées offer a noble and authentic interpretation of Beaujolais, far from the clichés of simple, light wines. These are wines of emotion, precise, lively, combining drinkability with great complexity.
