Maxime Magnon
Originally from Burgundy, Maxime Magnon settled in 2002 in the wild and rugged landscape of the Hautes Corbières, south of Corbières. There, between Villeneuve-les-Corbières, Durban, and Cascastel, he made an forgotten terroir his own, bringing old century-old vineyard plots back to life and establishing his name among the most exciting figures of the Languedoc revival.
The estate now covers about fifteen hectares exposed on clay, schist, and limestone soils at a good altitude, which give the grapes depth, finesse, and minerality. The vineyard is managed with a deep respect for living things: certified organic farming, manual work on the plots, and even the integration of animals (sheep, cows) that graze in winter to naturally enrich the microbial life of the soils.
Trained by emblematic winemakers such as Philippe Valette and Thierry Allemand, Maxime has successfully transposed a terroir-driven sensibility to his new environment. His winemaking process is natural, with manual harvests, whole cluster fermentations, indigenous yeasts, very little added sulfur, and often no fining or filtration. This philosophy produces vibrant, precise wines, deeply rooted in their terroir.
When tasted, the estate's wines surprise with their unique balance: an intense fruity expression, invigorating freshness, and a fine texture that combine elegance and energy. The reds, often made from old-vine Carignan, Grenache, and Cinsault, offer an expressive aromatic palette, while the whites — made from Grenache Gris, Grenache Blanc, and Carignan Gris — charm with their vivacity and typical Languedoc salinity.
Maxime Magnon is today considered one of the most inspiring winemakers in Corbières, transforming a vast and diverse appellation into a noble and singular field of expression for natural wine.
