Domaine Ampelhus

Grey Rivairenc

Languedoc | White | 2022

The vines of Domaine Ampelhus benefit from a unique terroir composed of rolled pebbles and ferruginous red clay. Organic farming and respectful winemaking, without additives, guarantee a pure expression of the Rivairenc Gris grape variety. Hand-harvesting and 8 hours of skin contact maceration followed by low-temperature fermentation enrich the wine's aromatic profile, while aging in stainless steel tanks preserves its freshness and natural finesse.

Our opinion on the vintage

With its elegant rose-gold hue, this wine reveals a delicately oxidative nose, blending marzipan, bitter orange, and sweet spices. On the palate, it combines tension and breadth with perfect balance: vibrant acidity extends the wine beyond the finish, while its ethereal and enveloping texture provides remarkable sweetness. Citrus and redcurrant flavors are fully expressed, supported by a continuous freshness that prolongs the pleasure. The intense and refined finish offers a sensation of comfort and harmony, a true tribute to the subtle marriage of terroir and winemaking expertise.

Domaine Ampelhus

Domaine Ampelhus

Languedoc | France

In Faugères, Domaine Ampelhus relies on schist soils, characteristic of the appellation, which favor structured and elegant expressions. The vineyard is planted mainly with Syrah, Grenache, and Carignan, Mediterranean grape varieties interpreted here in a quest for balance rather than power.

The vineyard is managed using organic practices, allowing for precise soil analysis and careful control of grape ripeness. In the cellar, winemaking is carried out gently to preserve the purity of the fruit and the finesse of the textures. Extractions are kept to a minimum, without seeking to increase concentration.

The wines exhibit a tight structure and consistent tension, supported by precise and restrained aromatics. Their profiles avoid excessive ripeness, favoring clarity and precision. The estate's work as a whole offers a measured and coherent interpretation of Faugères, grounded in freshness, structure, and a faithful expression of the terroir.
