Istra Malvazija 2023

Sans Appellation | White | 2023

The historic estate, founded in 1891 and nestled in the Momjan and Buje region, produces a wine made exclusively from Istrian Malvasia grapes. The vines benefit from an ideal southwest exposure and are planted in clay and white soils at an altitude of 275 meters. This wine is the result of a gentle maceration of 12 to 24 hours, followed by fermentation and aging in stainless steel tanks for nine months, thus preserving its authentic and pure character.

Our opinion on the vintage

The initial nose reveals delicate floral aromas typical of Malvasia, along with citrus notes that instantly evoke freshness. On the palate, the silky texture and minerality of the clay soils bring added depth and dimension to this wine. Flavors of white peach and green apple dance pleasantly across the palate, culminating in a clean and lingering finish. This wine is a true expression of authentic Istrian winemaking, perfect for accompanying a convivial meal with friends.

Kabola winery

Istrie | Croatie

The Kabola estate is a family-run vineyard located in Momjan, on the Istrian peninsula in Croatia, where viticulture is practiced using certified organic farming methods on approximately 20 hectares of southwest-facing vines. The clay and marl soils, sometimes rich in red earth, are favorable to the cultivation of indigenous grape varieties such as Malvasia, Muscat, and Teran, as well as a small proportion of international varieties.

Winemaking at the estate favours large traditional containers such as demi-muids or foudres and aging in amphorae for certain cuvées, which gives a unique dimension to the wines and highlights the natural expression of the fruit and terroir.

Kabola wines reflect the identity of Istrian viticulture, with an aromatic freshness and structure that pay homage to local traditions while offering a strong personality.
