Domaine Borie de Maurel

Charivari 2024

Vin de France | Red | 2024

This wine, made entirely from organically grown Grenache grapes cultivated on the clay-limestone soils of Minervois (Félines-Minervois), reveals a straightforward and generous style. Vinified in concrete tanks for six months, it preserves the freshness of the fruit without oak aging. The result is an easy-drinking, fruity, and supple wine with a balanced and easy-drinking profile.

Our opinion on the vintage

The wine is a deep, translucent garnet. The nose is delicate, with aromas of cherry liqueur, orange peel, and balsamic and spicy notes. The palate is round, very full, and enveloping, offering great freshness on the attack before revealing a finely velvety texture with intense fruit underscored by the freshness and tension of citrus peel. The finish continues the dynamic character of the palate, with added vibrancy, sap, and sensuality—one must, after all, live up to BB—and lingers with candied orange, maraschino, licorice, and dark chocolate.

Languedoc | France

Syrah dominates here without overpowering the other elements: in Minervois, Michel Escande has patiently crafted a style that is ample yet never heavy-handed. The old vines, rooted in the limestone slopes, yield wines with a tight structure, consistent depth, and unexpected freshness. Extended aging refines the contours while preserving a natural spicy character. In short, the estate embodies a certain Languedoc classicism, but a living, thoughtful classicism, focused on precision rather than raw power.
