A blend of Mourvèdre (90%) and Syrah (10%), grown on clay-limestone soil in Félines-Minervois, this organically Vin de France is vinified without aging in wood. Hand-harvested grapes, destemming, temperature-controlled fermentation, and a short vatting period promote an intense fruity expression. The style is dense, round, and silky, supported by a rich, structured body, with lovely freshness.

Our Review of the Cuvée

The color is dark, a deep violet. On the nose, it presents a pure sensation of ripe fruit: plum and blackberry, enhanced by fresh spices and a subtle floral hint. On the palate, the attack is ample and luscious, with a velvety texture that envelops the mouth. The tannins are appealingly silky, devoid of harshness, supporting a rich, indulgent density. The fruity and spicy finish lingers with notes of cocoa and licorice, offering genuine tension without any heaviness. This Languedoc wine is straightforward in its honesty, rich in pleasure and sincerity.

Syrah dominates here without overpowering the other elements: in Minervois, Michel Escande has patiently crafted a style that is ample yet never massive. The old vines, rooted in the limestone hillsides, yield juices that reveal a tight grain, consistent depth, and an unexpected freshness. Extended aging refines the contours while preserving a natural spicy character. A short sentence. The estate embodies a certain Languedoc classicism, but a vibrant, thoughtful classicism, focused on precision rather than raw power.
