Domaine Borie de Maurel

The Sorcerer's Wine

Vin de France | Red | 2024

A blend of Mourvèdre (90%) and Syrah (10%), produced on clay-limestone soils in Félines-Minervois, this Vin de France is made from organically grown grapes and vinified without oak aging. Hand-harvested grapes, destemmed, temperature-controlled fermentation, and a short maceration period promote an intense fruity expression. The style is dense, round, and silky, supported by a rich and structured body, with a lovely freshness.

Our opinion on the vintage

The wine is dark, a deep purple. On the nose, a pure sensation of ripe fruit: plum and blackberry, enhanced by fresh spices and a subtle floral note. On the palate, the attack is ample and luscious, the velvety texture enveloping the palate. The tannins seduce with their natural silkiness, without harshness, supporting a luscious density. The finish, fruity and spicy, lingers with notes of cocoa and licorice, offering real tension without heaviness. A Languedoc wine that is simple in its honesty, rich in pleasure and sincerity.

Languedoc | France

Syrah dominates here without overpowering the other elements: in Minervois, Michel Escande has patiently crafted a style that is ample yet never heavy-handed. The old vines, rooted in the limestone slopes, yield wines with a tight structure, consistent depth, and unexpected freshness. Extended aging refines the contours while preserving a natural spicy character. In short, the estate embodies a certain Languedoc classicism, but a living, thoughtful classicism, focused on precision rather than raw power.
