Rencontre avec le cépage Mourvèdre 2024

Vin de France | Rouge | 2024

This 100% Mourvèdre wine is carefully crafted using organic methods. The clay-siliceous terroir and short pruning give the vineyard its unique character. Sulfite-free vinification, featuring cold pre-fermentation and native yeasts, ensures an authentic expression of the grape variety. Aging on fine lees in stainless steel tanks for ten months adds finesse and balance to this wine, which is both understated and rich.

Our Review of the Cuvée

This Mourvèdre boasts an eye-catching, translucent garnet color. On the nose, it entices with delicate aromas of candied fruit and sweet spices. On the palate, it reveals a round, enveloping texture with a velvety body that is undeniably elegant. Flavors of cherry, blackcurrant, and a hint of cocoa enrich a long, concentrated finish. This wine will surprise with its intense fruitiness on the palate, contrasting beautifully with the subtlety perceived on the nose, offering a balanced and refined tasting experience.

Jeff Carrel is one of those wine personalities difficult to categorize. A former consulting oenologist who became a négociant-winemaker, he collaborates with vignerons from Languedoc, Roussillon, and the Southwest to create accessible, authentic, and often very well-crafted cuvées for their price point.

His approach is primarily based on fruit, balance, and tasting pleasure. No unnecessary embellishment: Jeff Carrel's wines aim to remain delightful, easy to drink, and true to their terroir. Some cuvées have become true staples for Southern wine enthusiasts, thanks to their consistency and excellent value for money.
