Gewurztraminer Les Pucelles 2023

Vin de France | White | 2023

The "Les Pucelles" cuvée is crafted according to Patrick Meyer's biodynamic principles. Extended skin maceration on 50-60 year old Gewurztraminer vines, natural fermentation without added sulfur, light clarification, and diatomaceous earth filtration. Intense orange color, dense aromatics, and a fresh, saline character. A profoundly expressive, fluid, and balanced wine.

Our opinion on the vintage

The wine's intense color evokes copper. On the nose, a striking aromatic complexity unfolds: apricot, lychee, elderflower, ginger, and hints of chestnut. The overall impression is one of elegant, spicy, and saline freshness. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, textured, and powerful, yet retains a lovely vivacity. The finish lingers subtly with notes of dried orange peel and a tonic acidity. The balance between richness and salinity makes it a very approachable wine, perfect as an aperitif or paired with lightly spiced Asian or Indian-inspired cuisine.

Alsace | France

In Alsace, Domaine Julien Meyer practices biodynamic viticulture, paying particular attention to soil health and the natural balance of the grapes. Riesling, Sylvaner, and Gewurztraminer are vinified there with a focus on maximum transparency, often without the addition of sulfur.

Winemaking prioritizes minimal intervention, allowing fermentation to unfold naturally. The wines may exhibit a subtle fermentative character, embraced as a stylistic element, while maintaining a vibrant structure and precise expression of the grape varieties. Aging is carried out over extended periods, imparting progressive depth without weighing down the wines.

All the wines are distinguished by a strong and consistent personality, offering a direct and vibrant expression of the Alsatian terroirs. The estate embraces a unique aesthetic, based on observation, patience, and respect for the natural rhythm of the wines.
