Pinot Noir Le Vieux Chemin 2022

Alsace | Red | 2022

This Pinot Noir comes from the marl-loam terroir of "Altweg," near Zellberg. Hand-harvested, fermented with whole bunches in concrete eggs, and aged naturally without sulfites. The wine is light and ethereal, with a fine and elegant texture, supported by a discreet natural effervescence. A fresh red, less heavy but with a beautiful aromatic tension.

Our opinion on the vintage

The translucent robe, somewhere between vermilion and brick red, is captivating. The nose blends delicate flowers, warm stone, candied Morello cherry, and a refreshing touch of volatile acidity. On the palate, the attack is ethereal, the texture remarkably fine, almost impalpable. A slight perlage accentuates the tension, giving the mouthfeel tonic, tangy, and clean. Red fruit remains present, supported by a spicy finish and a hint of damp earth after the rain. By removing the carbon dioxide, the wine gains in elegance and finesse, without losing any of its character. A natural Pinot Noir, digestible and refined, perfect with poultry, mushrooms, or specific vegetarian dishes.

Alsace | France

In Alsace, Domaine Julien Meyer practices biodynamic viticulture, paying particular attention to soil health and the natural balance of the grapes. Riesling, Sylvaner, and Gewurztraminer are vinified there with a focus on maximum transparency, often without the addition of sulfur.

Winemaking prioritizes minimal intervention, allowing fermentation to unfold naturally. The wines may exhibit a subtle fermentative character, embraced as a stylistic element, while maintaining a vibrant structure and precise expression of the grape varieties. Aging is carried out over extended periods, imparting progressive depth without weighing down the wines.

All the wines are distinguished by a strong and consistent personality, offering a direct and vibrant expression of the Alsatian terroirs. The estate embraces a unique aesthetic, based on observation, patience, and respect for the natural rhythm of the wines.
