Au Bon Climat

Santa Barbara - Pinot Noir 2021

| Red | 2021

The 2019 Pinot Noir Kick-On from Au Bon Climat benefits from meticulous winemaking using slowly ripened grapes from the Los Alamos Valley. A blend of equal parts clones 115 and 777, this wine reveals complex flavors thanks to 18 months of aging in barrels, 33% of which are new, crafted by François Frères. This attention to detail gives the wine a silky texture and depth that pairs perfectly with rich dishes such as grilled duck.

Our opinion on the vintage

On the nose, this Pinot Noir is distinguished by its seductive aromas of woody spices and undergrowth, which gradually evolve into the generous fruitiness of wild berries. On the palate, a harmony of flavors unfolds: both rich and subtle, the wine demonstrates a beautiful structure with well-integrated tannins. The finish is long and elegant, leaving lingering fruity notes. Ideal for flavorful dishes, it offers a beautiful presence and promises a bright future in the cellar for lovers of patiently crafted wines.

Au Bon Climat

Californie | Etats-Unis

Au Bon Climat is an iconic estate in Santa Barbara County, California, founded in the early 1980s by Jim Clendenen. From its inception, the estate distinguished itself by its desire to produce wines inspired by the great European, particularly Burgundian, balances, going against the grain of the dominant Californian style of the time.

The vineyards are located in cool areas influenced by the Pacific Ocean, notably the Santa Maria Valley and the Santa Ynez Valley. This proximity to the sea allows for slow ripening of the grapes, promoting freshness, balance, and aromatic complexity, particularly for Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.

The estate's philosophy is based on precise winemaking, controlled yields, and careful aging, with a judicious use of oak. Au Bon Climat wines are renowned for their aging potential and their elegant expression of the Californian terroir.
