Sainte Epine 2024

Saint-Joseph | Red | 2024

The Sainte Epine cuvée is produced on an exceptional terroir, located opposite the iconic Hermitage hill. This cuvée is made exclusively from Syrah grapes grown on century-old vines, benefiting from an ideal south-southeast exposure. The winemaking process is distinguished by a long maceration without destemming at low temperatures and the use of punch-downs, without the addition of any additives, followed by a year of aging on fine lees, preserving all the richness and depth of the wine.

Our opinion on the vintage

On the nose, this wine reveals intense aromas of ripe black fruit, enhanced by subtle hints of spice and violet. The palate is structured, with a velvety texture that coats the palate, offering beautiful complexity. The mid-palate displays a lovely harmony between fruity and spicy flavors, magnified by the finesse and elegance of the tannins. Its long finish leaves a memorable impression, highlighting the authenticity and unique character of this exceptional terroir. This Saint-Joseph is a superb example of the art of Syrah winemaking in all its splendor.

Vallée du Rhône | France

Hervé Souhaut cultivates his Ardèche vineyards, preserving the original spirit of the granite slopes where Syrah finds an ethereal expression. Gentle maceration vinification yields elegant reds with limpid fruit and a delicate texture that contrasts with the more robust profiles of the northern valley. Aging in old barrels maintains this transparency, allowing a consistent tension to emerge, carrying the wines without making them harsh. There is a sensation of energetic lightness, almost infused, that defines the estate's style. This sensitive, patient approach has profoundly influenced the new generation of Rhône winemakers.
