Ajaccio

Ajaccio, the capital of Corsica, lends its name to one of the island’s most iconic wine appellations. The star grape varieties are Nielluccio for reds and Vermentino for whites—two indigenous varieties that powerfully express Corsica’s identity.

Wines from Ajaccio are distinguished by their distinct Mediterranean character: aromas of maquis, red berries, and white flowers, along with a lovely minerality derived from the granite soils. They pair perfectly with Corsican cuisine: cured meats, cheeses, and grilled fish.
