Mas del Périé - Fabien Jouves

NDD Nectar of the Gods 2024

Cahors | Red | 2024

This wine, made from Grenache, Cinsault, Muscat of Hamburg, and Malbec grapes, is distinguished by its natural winemaking process without added sulfites. The grapes, grown on clay-limestone slopes, undergo whole-cluster maceration for seven days in concrete vats before aging for nine months in oak barrels. This approach gives the wine a light and fresh texture, highlighting its fruity flavors while respecting its authentic and delicate character.

Our opinion on the vintage

From the very first sip, this wine surprises with its translucent garnet and purple hue. On the nose, it reveals subtle aromas of candied red fruits, enhanced by a light note of spice and a touch of creaminess. On the palate, it is round and full-bodied, with a diaphanous texture and striking freshness. This complexity gives way to a slightly acidic finish, with notes of fresh raspberry, Morello cherry, and a touch of spice, offering a lingering, refined, and indulgent aftertaste.

Mas del Périé - Fabien Jouves

Sud-Ouest | France

In Cahors, Fabien Jouves manages Mas del Périé with a precise, plot-by-plot approach to Malbec. The different cuvées are based on the geology of the plateau and hillsides, contrasting limestone soils, which bring verticality and tension, with deeper clays, sources of flesh and density.

Biodynamics structures all the work, from soil management to winemaking. Aging uses a variety of containers—amphorae, foudres, and barrels—employed as tools for adjustment, in order to refine the profiles without masking the expression of the grape or the terroir.

The wines maintain a clear definition, with precise black fruit and structures that are never heavy. The finishes remain legible and balanced, reflecting an approach where each cuvée offers a distinct and coherent interpretation of the different facets of the Cahors plateau.
