Overlooking 14 hectares of organically farmed vineyards, Château Bessan is a remarkable 16th-century estate now managed by Mathieu Verdier. Taken over by his parents in 1986 when the property was in a state of neglect, the estate was completely replanted and equipped with a new winery. After ten years dedicated to winemaking, Mathieu took over the estate, introduced new grape varieties such as Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc, and reorganized production and marketing. The estate produces a complete range of white, rosé, crémant, and red wines, deeply rooted in their terroir. Aware of the site’s exceptional character, he also developed wine tourism with a unique tasting space, “La Cabane dans les Vignes,” a lookout offering views of the landscape and vineyard heritage. Certain vintages, such as Le Mascaret, pay homage to the natural phenomena that shape this unique landscape.
