Château Clarisse

Nestled in the heart of the clay-limestone plateau of Puisseguin-Saint-Émilion, near Saint-Émilion, Château Clarisse embodies a modern and demanding approach to Bordeaux wine. Established by Olivia and Didier Le Calvez, the estate spans 24 hectares across the Puisseguin-Saint-Émilion and Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux appellations, offering an exceptional terroir where each parcel reveals its unique character.

The deep soils, enriched with fossilized limestone, act as a natural water reservoir, allowing the vines to ripen in perfect balance. The plateau, situated at an altitude of over 100 meters, ensures optimal drainage, ideal sun exposure, and a natural freshness that imparts tension and elegance to the grapes.

The vineyard is planted primarily with Merlot and Cabernet Franc, complemented by Petit Verdot and Carménère, allowing for complex and refined blends. Viticulture is practiced with respect for the environment and biodiversity: hedgerows, beehives, agroforestry, and a herb garden are integral to the vineyard’s ecosystem and reinforce the natural balance of the plots.

In the cellar, meticulous attention to detail and a plot-by-plot approach guide every stage of the winemaking process. The grapes are gently vinified to preserve their natural character and are partially aged in barrels to enhance the fruit and structure. Château Clarisse’s wines are distinguished by their elegance, velvety texture, and perfect balance between richness and freshness. The reds reveal notes of ripe black fruit, plum, and cherry, enriched with floral and spicy hints, while the whites, being younger, express purity and aromatic finesse.
