In Lalande-de-Pomerol, Château des Annereaux embodies an almost instinctive connection to the vineyard. Dominique, and subsequently Benjamin Hessel, have always maintained this profound bond with the land, the terroir, and the region. The estate has been managed with organic farming practices since 2007, with continuous attention paid to the natural balance of the vineyard and the finesse of the wines.

The winemaking philosophy primarily seeks elegance and drinkability. Extractions are carefully controlled, and aging is deliberately restrained—with approximately 25% new oak—to preserve the fruit and mouthfeel. The wines exhibit supple profiles with melted tannins, alongside precise and subtly spicy aromatics. They are enjoyable when young, while also possessing significant aging potential. This approach was notably recognized in 2018 when certain cuvées were selected for the Élysée Palace wine cellar.

The estate has a long and unique history. A family-owned property since 1390, Château des Annereaux owes much of its reputation to Caroline Ponsot, a prominent figure of the late 19th century. Her pioneering work against phylloxera, conducted directly in the vineyard, made the estate a scientific and viticultural benchmark of its time.

Today, Benjamin Hessel carries on the château’s legacy with confidence, enriching it with a strong agroecological focus. Hedges, fruit trees, flower-filled fallow fields, and beehives shape the landscape and contribute to the vitality of the soil. This comprehensive, patient, and consistent vision yields distinctive, refined wines deeply rooted in Bordeaux’s Right Bank.
