Niepoort
Niepoort
Niepoort is a renowned Portuguese winery founded in 1842 by Fransiscus Marius van der Niepoort in Porto, in the heart of the Douro region. Today, it has been run by the family for five generations. It is known for its historic Port wines as well as its high-quality dry wines produced in the Douro Valley and other Portuguese regions.
Over time, Niepoort acquired several wine estates, including Quinta de Nápoles and Quinta do Carril in the Cima Corgo sub-region, to cultivate its own old vines, some over 80 years old. The winery thus produces a wide range of red, white, rosé, and fortified wines that reflect the diversity of the Douro's schist terroirs and the family's approach to winemaking.
Under the leadership of Dirk Niepoort, the house has broadened its focus towards modern dry wines, with cuvées that combine elegance, finesse and tradition, while maintaining a reputation for excellence in Port wines, some of which are considered among the finest and most suitable for aging.
