Domaine Jean-François Ganevat

Pinot noir en Billat 2023

Côtes du Jura | Red | 2023

Pinot Noir from the En Billat plot in Grusse and Saint-Laurent-la-Roche, grown on schist and marl soils. Hand-harvested and vinified naturally without additives, with one year of aging in oak barrels. The wine offers a distinctly Burgundian expression, all finesse and verticality, with aromas of fresh red fruit, violet, and subtle smoky notes. Delicate and elegant, it can be enjoyed now and has excellent aging potential.

Our opinion on the vintage

This wine is distinguished by its expressive bouquet. On the nose, it reveals a range of delicate floral aromas mingling with subtle notes of fresh fruit. On the palate, it is light and harmonious, with a silky texture that glides smoothly. The finish is lively and persistent, adding a refreshing dimension that invites a second sip. A true revelation that combines simplicity and sophistication, appealing to both seasoned wine lovers and curious newcomers alike.

Domaine Ganevat , located in Rotalier in the Jura region, embodies one of the most unique and accomplished expressions of the Jura vineyards. Run by Jean-François Ganevat, the estate is based on meticulous work on family plots , often planted with old vines , cultivated according to demanding organic principles and close to biodynamics.

Here, each vine is cultivated as an individual entity. The soils, primarily composed of marl, limestone scree, and clay, are tilled and maintained to preserve their life and natural balance. Yields are intentionally low, in order to concentrate the expression of the grape and the terroir, without artifice.
