Domaine Semper

Voluptas 2023

Côtes du Roussillon Villages | Red | 2023

This wine comes from a unique terroir of granitic sands at an altitude of 450 meters in Lesquèrde, and is an elegant blend of Syrah, Carignan Noir, and Grenache Noir. Hand-harvested grapes, followed by traditional vinification in vats and demi-muids, promote the pure expression of the berries. With three weeks of maceration and continuous lees stirring, this wine offers a rich texture and a masterful balance, further refined by 12 months of aging on fine lees.

Our opinion on the vintage

Beneath its initial floral aromas, this wine reveals subtle notes of spice and dark fruit. Syrah contributes a beautiful aromatic intensity, while Carignan and Grenache enrich the bouquet with nuances of plum and cherry. On the palate, the texture is velvety, supported by a solid structure and silky tannins. The extended maceration results in a persistent aromatic profile, while aging on fine lees adds depth and complexity that invite further tasting.

Domaine Semper

Roussillon | France

At the foot of the Agly's schist hills, Domaine Semper crafts wines where Carignan and Grenache find fertile ground for expression. The Roussillon heat translates into dark, ripe fruit, while the freshness of the higher-altitude soils provides a welcome counterpoint. Gentle winemaking prioritizes precision over power, resulting in wines with fine tannins and a fleshy texture. Limited oak aging preserves a clean aromatic profile and just the right amount of body. The style remains straightforward and direct, with a restrained depth that characterizes this corner of the south, where old vines continue to play a vital role.
