In 1962, some fifty winegrowers from the Côte des Bar villages of Baroville, Fontaine and Arconville decided to join forces, found a wine cooperative and create Champagne de Barfontarc.
Anecdotes about the domain
The Champagne House has won numerous awards, competitions and medals! With its flagship Brut Tradition, as well as Blanc de noirs, Rosé, Blanc de blanc and vintage wines, most of our cuvées have been recognized and awarded prizes in numerous national and international competitions. IWSC, Effervescents du Monde, Brussels, Paris, Lyon... but also the press: Decanter, Elle, la RVF, Hachette... The domain's short story
The human choice, by essence. Since 1962, the Champagne de Barfontarc cooperative has brought together some fifty winegrowers, mainly from the villages of Baroville, Fontaine and Arconville, whose first syllables make up the name Barfontarc. Champagne de Barfontarc thus exists, by and for the winegrowers, by and for the men and women who make Champagne what it is. The attachment to the land is strong. So is the pride in this mythical terroir. For almost 60 years, we have respected the work of our winegrowers and worked in our own fields to ensure that our champagnes reflect this terroir and know-how. Our desire is always the same, because it's timeless, and obviously common to both the winemakers and the Barfontarc team: to share and sublimate. To share with each other, to share with consumers. Sharing this exceptional terroir, sharing our ultra-modern production facilities (the original raison d'être of the cooperative), sharing our authentic know-how, sharing the emotions of tasting, in France and around the world... In short, sharing beautiful stories. Sublimate the fruit of the vine, sublimate the work of the winemakers, sublimate these special cuvées, sublimate every moment.
The winemaker's pride
Champagne de Barfontarc comprises 127 hectares of vines, spread over 8 villages around Baroville, in the Côte des Bar region. Established on a historically "pinot" terroir, the vineyard is planted with 90% pinot noir and 10% chardonnay. The House is committed to producing wines that reflect its terroir, frank and generous. Because it's possible to be consensual and still have style. While each cuvée has its own personality and expresses itself differently, generosity, delicacy and consistency are the House's signature. We offer three collections: classics, belles cuvées and specialties. Our ultra-modern production facilities, with the utmost respect for ancestral know-how, enable our teams - made up of experienced men and women - to bring out the particularities of the local terroir. After the various stages of production, our wines are aged in the bottle for a minimum of 24 months for Bruts sans années and 6 years for Cuvées millésimées.
