Maison Champagne Météyer Père et Fils operates a 14-hectare vineyard in the commune of Trélou-sur-Marne, on the banks of the Marne. We work our plots as a family according to the methods of sustainable viticulture: we preserve the plants and animals that have settled in the vineyard, Franck Météyer, from the 5th generation of winegrowers in the family, manages the estate and works with the classic Champagne grape varieties: Meunier, which represents more than half the vineyard, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Some of our vines are over 70 years old and allow us to produce our great vintages with the Miller. 10 vintages are available for lovers of fine champagne bubbles, from vintages to complex blends and excellent single varieties. All our vintages express the richness of our terroir. It is composed of clay and limestone that weeds us. The south-facing exposure of the vineyard is ideal for good ripening of the grapes. The selective sorting of our reasons associated with the good ripening of the grapes allows us to produce good cuvees in zero dosage for ever more fruit!

Our story

Our champagne house was the first independent winegrower to receive the "Pierre Cheval de l'Embellissement" prize awarded by UNESCO. This distinction is an infinite recognition for the work we do every day in the vineyard. since 1860, Champagne Météyer Père et Fils has been a harvesting and handling company that produces top-of-the-range wines that respect the environment. We vinify our juices sustainably and in accordance with Champagne methods. We are also open to visits and offer a warm, artistic and cultural welcome. You can visit our family museum where you will discover the different stages of Champagne winemaking.

Other little stories

Franck Météyer, a good pupil of his ancestors, perpetuates the ancient wine-making practices that have been passed on to him. To preserve the harvest in the event of spring frost, some vines are pruned in March to delay the beginning of vegetation growth, while respecting the environment, ploughing and weeding are done mechanically. Enamelled steel tanks are used to ensure perfect micro-oxidation of the wine. Franck Météyer is one of the 10% of winegrowers who block malolactic fermentation. This method, which is difficult to control, preserves the natural freshness of the grapes, thus offering a frank attack and length in the mouth. A long natural ageing on slats characterizes Météyer Cuvées by a minimum of 3 years for non-vintage cuvées and up to 12 years for Vintages.
