One meeting that has marked us is that with Olivier Dauga, our muse who has allowed us to reveal great vintages year after year. He advises us on a daily basis. For us, Château Cantinot is above all a great wine story that begins with a great water story.
The domain's short story
Château Cantinot is above all a family story. After a life dedicated to the maritime world, Yann Bouscasse acquired in 2002, with his wife Florence, née Vieljeux, the Château Cantinot, 50km from Bordeaux, on the right bank. The man of the sea reveals himself in love with this land and these vines that he wants to accompany with passion to produce great wines. Since then, among the four children, two will join the ship which now weighs 37 hectares with the purchase of Châteaux Haut-Boutet and Capron. Nicolas, the youngest, will be in charge of the technical aspects of the vineyard and the cellar until 2017, and Tristan, the youngest, will be in charge of the management and the business, with the recognized Cordon Bleu sommelier diploma in his pocket. Today, Tristan has taken over the management of the property, assisted by his partner, Sophie Guillaumin-Grimaldi. The new generation is now converting to organic farming.
The winemaker's pride
Château Cantinot is a 37-hectare vineyard located in Cars, a few kilometers from Blaye. Producers of red wines, we work with four grape varieties: merlot, cabernet-sauvignon, cabernet-franc and malbec. We have been using sustainable agriculture since 2002 and are now in the process of converting to organic agriculture.
