Château Cantinot is in the heart of the Blaye appellation, Côtes de Bordeaux with vines in one piece. The soil is composed of sand, gravel, clay and limestone. Part of the Merlot is planted on the famous "blue clays" which represent a real geological jewel! The Merlot, Cabernet-Sauvignon and Cabernet-Franc grape varieties, which are on average 25 years old, are perfectly expressed. They are planted at 4500 vines per hectare, which is relatively reasonable and gives the wine its quality.
Yann Bouscasse, it is a man of the sea who decides with his wife to set foot on the ground to produce great Blaye and Côtes de Bordeaux. His wife, Florence Bouscasse, is the granddaughter of Pierre Vieljeux (president of the Delmas Vieljeux shipping company). Together, they produce wine but above all "Cantinot". They are now assisted by Tristan and Nicolas, their son. One is a cellar master, the other travels the roads to promote the château both nationally and internationally.
One meeting that marked us was with Olivier Dauga, our muse, who allowed us to reveal great vintages year after year. He advises us on a daily basis. For us, Château Cantinot is above all a great wine story that begins with a great water story.
Grassing is natural. Sometimes, weeding is done by hand under the rows. We thin the leaves manually and with control in order to give the vines resistant berries with a good sugar content. Our wines are made in several ways depending on the needs: stainless steel and concrete tanks, Burgundy barrels, truncated conical wooden tanks, microvinification maturing.
