(66) Pyrénées-Orientales

Located 5 kilometres from the Mediterranean Sea, the vineyard benefits from a great exposure to the sun: excellent for the maturity of our grapes. The influence of the cool nights from the Pyrenees mountains gives a perfect balance to our wines, the Aspres terroir is unique: it is clayey and stony on "Quaternary Terraces". Today our terroir and our working philosophy are in conflict in order to produce wines that are among the best and most representative of Roussillon. We are particularly vigilant about our vineyard in order to preserve it, to offer it the best conditions to reveal itself, but above all by having a sustainable and environmentally friendly vision.

Our story

Since 1485, the Jonquères d'Oriola family has been producing subtle wines at Château de Corneilla del Vercol. This castle is a cultural and historical site recognized as part of the Catalan heritage. We produce our wines in 6 appellations in 21 vintages: red, rosé, white and natural sweet wines, here we love challenges and horses: in the family, sport plays a central role. It was Joseph Jonquères d'Oriola (Philippe's grandfather) who was a pioneer in the sport and won the world championships in the 1920s, and the gold medal at the Olympic Games (Helsinki in 1952 and Tokyo in 1964). It was consecrated by the election of the Best Calavier of the last century. His cousin, Christian d'Oriola, shines in fencing: he wins 4 times the gold medal at the Olympic Games and 8 times the world champion title. This DNA guides the family in our daily work and explains their victories in the biggest international competitions in the wine category.

Other little stories

Jonquères d'Oriola is not only wine, it is also olive oil! The family has been awarded national and even international prizes for the quality of its olive oils. Your visit to the estate will therefore not stop at a tasting of their wines, but will also include a tasting of their oils. You can stroll around the plantation run by Organic Farming, which houses the 6,000 olive trees!
