The wines of Château de Fontenay are the result of the meeting of two families: the families...
Originally from Tourangeau, Jean first tried his hand at Parisian life, his La Défense towers, his RER train and his frantic pace. And then, like the song of the sirens, the vines reminded him of his Touraine...

In the heart of the Loire Valley, you can discover a green setting on the Loire Valley castle circuit, the Château de Valmer, a marvel of the Italian Renaissance where Vouvray wines and an exceptional garden are happily combined.
In the family, since 1888, the Chateau de Valmer winery has been a jewel, both for its sumptuous French-style gardens and for its particular terroir of stony hillsides. Jean resumes his studies in oenology.... And in 2010, he fulfilled his dream: to take over the family estate. Today, Jean makes it a point of honour to influence at least the natural interactions between the vine and the soil, to encourage exchanges between animal and plant species!
Whether dry, semi-dry, sweet or sparkling, there is always a bottle of Château de Valmer to satisfy all desires, for your friends but also for your family.
Located in the heart of the Vouvray appellation, the vineyard started in 1888 with the acquisition of the Château by the de Saint Venant family. Today, the Château is renowned for its gardens and wines, which have been given a new lease of life by Jean's father, Aymar, Comte de Saint Venant. Jean has been perpetuating the family tradition for 5 years now.
"I had been itching for a long time but one morning when I was taking the RER train to work in La Défense... I knew it wasn't for me. I resigned, started studying oenology with the aim of taking over the domain and it has been done for 5 years. Today I am well in my vineyards and in love with my terroir and my beautiful Touraine"
"My greatest pleasure: working my vines, creating great wines every year and telling me that I have made the right choice..."
