The domain's short story

Andrew EAKIN, took over Château Magdeleine Bouhou in 2021, to perpetuate the family tradition of this vineyard and to continue the efforts already undertaken to make this small vineyard a flagship of the right bank wines. Formerly an independent wine merchant in London, he settled down 6 years ago at Château Puynard, a small 15 ha organic property, located a few steps away from Château Magdeleine Bouhou. Seduced by this magnificent terroir of outcropping limestone, he committed himself to continue the work undertaken in the vineyard and the winery and to bring new exciting projects to the estate, starting with the installation of a micro-distillery in the winery of Magdeleine Bouhou, the planting of white grape varieties or the development of wine tourism at the estate with the construction of a gite.

The winemaker's pride

Château Magdeleine Bouhou, located in the heart of the Blaye Côtes de Bordeaux appellation, has been certified in Organic Agriculture since 2022. Our grape varieties are evolving with the recent planting of atypical white grapes for our region such as Chardonnay and Roussanne, which complement our Malbec, Merlot and Cabernets. At the domain we like to innovate and experiment through the vinifications or the containers we use to produce rather original vintages: Amphora, Blanc de Noir, Solera, mono-varietals without added sulfur and of course our traditional blends.
