Our family estate, Château Saint Nabor, is located on the right bank of the Rhône, more precisely in Cornillon, a small medieval village in the Cèze valley, where we grow the emblematic grape varieties of the Rhône valley... and some others! for our white wines we have Grenache Blanc, Roussanne, Viognier, Clairette, Ugni Blanc, Chardonnay and Muscat à Petits Grains. For our red wines we have Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre, Carignan, Cinsault, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Tempranillo, all of which allow us to produce wines with the Côtes du Rhône and Côtes du Rhône Villages appellations, but also wines with IGP du Gard and IGP Pays d'Oc.We are Independent Winegrowers, this means that we cultivate our grapes on our own plots, we harvest them and vinify them in our cellars, the maturing and bottling are also done in our cellars. All this allows us to guarantee you the best quality and traceability, and our vineyard is planted on various terroirs, which brings all their personality to our wines. On the one hand, the terraced soils, based on chalk and clay with varied rock concentrations, allow the production of powerful and robust wines. On the other hand, the soils on the plain are composed of sand and clay, they offer fresh, light and aromatic wines, all these elements combined with our winegrowers' hands allow us to offer you wines that highlight our grape varieties and soils, they will perfectly match all occasions!
Our family estate in the Rhône Valley has a history of several centuries, and the tasting cellar proves it, it is located on the foundations of an 11th century priory, this magnificent setting contributes to creating a unique tasting experience. we have been winegrowers from father to son for 6 generations, this passion has always been transmitted. We still have a bottle dated 1877! As far back as we can trace our family has always worked in the peasant world, mostly on a small scale and in a multicultural environment. It is only from Edmond Castor, 3rd generation, that the cultivation of the vine has received special attention. He was convinced of the great quality of our terroirs and fought for its recognition. Tragically, following a tractor accident, he did not see the recognition of his work, the classification of the commune of Cornillon as a Côtes du Rhône and Côtes du Rhône Villages appellation in 1972. his wife Emilienne Castor managed the estate, quickly joined by Gérard Castor, 5th generation. it was at this time that a new impetus was given to the estate. The planting of new parcels of vines to enlarge the estate and the abandonment of other production, in order to concentrate efforts on creating the direct sales cellar, Gérard Castor has been a major player in the farming world and his unlimited investment has given Château Saint Nabor its letters of nobility, now a reference. After nearly 40 years of development, Gérard Castor is joined by his sons, Jérémie and Raphaël, 6th generation, on the estate, both with strong studies in viticulture/enology, they both stand out afterwards. After a professional degree in Management and Marketing, Jérémie went to work for 8 months in a winery in California. Raphaël continued with a wine tourism licence and will return to the estate following this one, today, we, Jérémie and Raphaël are at the head of the estate, with the objective of producing wines of ever higher quality by combining today's challenges with ancestral traditions!
The Cèze valley is a region rich in history and our estate is a fragment of this history, our vault is built on the remains of a priory dating back to the 11th century! Our new cuvée, the sparkling Muscat sparkling "7" owes its name to the arrival of Jeremiah's son, Jules, born in November 2016. He may also be a winegrower, and this cuvée celebrates the next 7th generation of winegrowers in the Castor family!
