The domain's short story
With debt and a small amount of money of my own, I bought small parcels of vineyard land through the SAFER (Société d'Aménagement Foncier et d'Etablissement Rural). This is why the vineyard of Soudars is very fragmented because at the time there were more than 50 different plots on the same plateau of clay-limestone soil in the center of the village and 2 hectares of gravel on the edge of the estuary.the work of the soil to prepare the plantations on the vineyard land in the center of the village was very difficult because this rich soil is composed of a multitude of large fossilized stones of multiple marine organisms present at the origin where the river covered part of these surfaces. This work was so important that the neighboring winegrowers doubted my ability to finish. The name of the Château comes from the origin of the place name of these parcels; "Soudar" in the plural. To achieve a blend in keeping with the typicality of our Haut Medoc AOC, I planted half Merlot Noir and half Cabernet Sauvignon with only 1% Cabernet Franc. Eric Boissenot is our consulting oenologist and has been working on the selections for as long as I can remember. Because the great wines of Bordeaux are only ready to drink after a few years of aging, I have specialized in "ready to drink", a way of working that has become rare in Bordeaux ..... This period of time allows the wine to blossom, gives it complex aromas and develops the taste that makes the great wines of Bordeaux unique. The storage of the wines for a late marketing allows our customers to enjoy this superb evolution of the wine. Certification: HVE3 from the 2018 vintage.
