Exploitation, vinification, sales; an iron hand in a velvet glove. She has chosen to practise a reasoned viticulture, respectful of the land and the typicities of the terroir. It produces fruity, tender and resolutely feminine wines.

Our story

Although Catherine Papillon created the eponymous estate in 2017, she is no novice in the business. Her passion for wine comes from her parents, cooperators, who ran the family estate, inherited from their parents. After her studies, Catherine Papillon joined forces with a member of her family. With humility and conviction, she made her weapons for 17 years before flying on her own wings. Since 2017, she manages her estate from A to Z. Exploitation, winemaking, sales; an iron hand in a velvet glove. She has chosen to practise a reasoned viticulture, respectful of the land and the typicities of the terroir. She produces fruity, tender and resolutely feminine wines. Catherine Papillon has no shortage of them. In particular, she would like to test new plots of land to discover other typicities of her Mâconnais terroir and thus widen her range of vintages. She is also going to launch a new rosé cuvée, available as a still wine and Crémant.

"Everyone tells me that my wines are feminine, and it's true, but they are also very much appreciated by men! "Domaine Papillon's wines are exported to Mexico thanks to Philippe, an expatriate friend, who introduces his native Mâconnais terroir in his adopted country. "I imagined the Cuvée Matéo for my son. I wanted to create a singular wine, like him. So I chose to age it in oak barrels. The 2017 vintage received the silver medal at the Concours Mondial des Vins Féminalise 2019, a great reward. »
