Anecdotes about the domain
Here, it is not possible to dissociate the domain of Pascal and Elisabeth. Since their association in 2004, they work together, in the same way to obtain the best of the soils of their vineyard.
The domain's short story
Elisabeth and Pascal Glas, accompanied by their daughters, took over the estate in 2004. Together they took up the daring challenge of restoring the estate to its former glory and reviving the vineyard. After rehabilitating the vineyard, they built a contemporary cellar, designed with stones from the Pont du Gard and modern cladding allowing an optimal temperature for maturing and conservation. Since then, the wines of the Domaine de Poulvarel have not ceased to be cited by the specialized press and rewarded during international competitions. It was Pascal who transmitted his passion for the vine to Elisabeth and they continue to develop the vineyard and the marketing of their vintages.
The winemaker's pride
Our estate is located in Sernhac, near the Pont du Gard. Vineyard of the Rhone Valley, we produce AOP Costières de Nîmes and IGP Pont du Gard. It extends over about 40 hectares around our cellar. We are certified High Environmental Value, to guarantee a work aiming at preserving the environment and the natural character of our wines. We cultivate our Syrah, Grenache, Carignan and Mourvèdre grapes on a soil composed of rolled pebbles, so typical of the region. In the Poulvarels area, we work on a gravelly soil with the grape varieties that give all the fruit to our wines: Sauvignon, Cabernet and Merlot.
