Anecdotes about the domain

For almost 15 years, I have been sharing my life with Laïs. I have always loved animals. I arrived in Calce with a cow and a mare. Today, we have 6 cows that we put between October and April in the vineyards and lands, and beehives. Moreover, we have planted many trees and we have the project to redo the hedges around the plantations. For me, agriculture is conceived in its entirety.

The domain's short story

I fell into wine since I was a little boy thanks to my grandfather and my grandbrother who are wine growers. From the age of 14, I worked in the vineyards. When I was 18, I went to Bordeaux for training. Then, the internships I did allowed me to discover other regions such as Beaujolais. When I finished my studies, I could concentrate fully on my passion. During my life, I was able to meet many people, notably Stéphane Derenoncourt, a self-taught winemaker from Bordeaux. Thanks to him, I discovered how to appreciate and make wine. These are things that are not taught in school. The desire to make my own wine came naturally. At the end of 2000, I started looking for a place where I could live this passion. I was attracted by the village of Calce. The meeting with Gerard Gauby, a friend of my brother, allowed me to realize my dream: to be a winegrower. The first day in my vineyard will remain in my memories, it was on January 3, 2001.

The winemaker's pride

Domaine Olivier Pithon is located in the commune of Calce, a unique place between the Mediterranean, the Pyrenees and the Corbières. The vineyards are located at an altitude of about 300 meters, on an extremely rich terroir. It is with his pride and love that Olivier Pithon cultivates his grapes on schist, marl, clay and limestone soils in organic and biodynamic culture. Organic viticulture was for him an obvious choice, a mark of respect for the environment, a qualitative requirement and a life choice. This vineyard is composed of different grape varieties, Macabeu, Grenache Gris and Grenache Blanc for the white wines and Grenache Noir, Mourvèdre and Carignan for the red wines.
