A family history since 1768, Philippe Gilbert's estate is located in Mentou-Salon and represents 29 hectares. From 2005 to 2007, he converted the estate to biodynamic viticulture (biodyvin label) and seeks the balance of the plant in harmony with nature. Philippe is concerned about his work and offers us wines that are close to perfection and that give us immense pleasure!
Since the founding father François Gilbert, who chose viticulture in 1768, the Gilbert family has always made wine. The 29 hectares of the property are planted on hillsides, with an equal proportion of Sauvignon and Pinot Noir, on sedimentary Kimmeridgian soils of marl, clay and limestone. The estate managed by Philippe Gilbert is run using biodynamic methods. Always conscious of his work, Philippe offers us wines whose balance borders on perfection, and which give immense pleasure... You wonder what a living wine is? Then taste Philippe's wines!
My grain of salt was the conversion of the entire estate to organic and especially biodynamic farming between 2005 and 2007. We seek the deep balance of the plant which is in harmony with nature. The ageing time is long enough (one year in white almost two years in red), in order not to disturb the natural rhythm of the wine.
The estate's latest news is the launch of the "Vino-lok" glass stopper on all vintages, starting with the 2014 Menetou-Salon blanc.
