Anecdotes about the domain
My background as a marathon cyclist (3 podiums at the French Championships, member of the French Olympic pursuit team) and as a Research and Development Manager have given me a taste for challenge and quality. Today, there are 4 of us working on the estate, including two wine workers. We work hard to offer wines of impeccable quality but also to animate wine tourism. We regularly organize visits and animations.
The domain's short story
The story begins in the 1900s when Madame Blanchet, my great-grandmother, cultivated vines in Saint Germain in Touraine. But it was only after a career in the automotive industry that I became interested in the world of wine. I started as an amateur and learned the basics of oeonology on my own. In 2009, I decided to embark on a conversion. I am therefore resuming my studies in viti-oeno in parallel with my engineering position. I became assistant cellar master in 2010 at Domaine Laroppe. In 2013, I took over the estate, which became "Edouard's Garden".
The winemaker's pride
It is in the heart of the Muscadet Sèvre et Maine appellation, in Château-Thébaud, that Jardin d'Edouard is located. The grape varieties used are Melon de Bourgogne, Folle Blanche, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Gamay, whose average age is more than 50 years. The vineyard benefits from the exceptional location of the Armorican Massif with a great diversity of terroirs: light slopes, granite soils, granodiorite, micaschists, sandstone... Each terroir corresponds to a breeding.
