The Bernard family has been working hard to develop the family heritage for many years... Five generations to be precise! It is on 11 hectares of sandy soil from the Miocene that the Domaine du Rocher des Dames produces its wines of the Beaume de Venise appellation. The grape harvest is done by hand and brings together about ten people each year.
In a cooperative structure on a human scale located in the commune of Gigondas, we entrust our Rouge and Muscat to design our vintages at Domaine le Rocher des Dames. Passionate people allow us to make our dream come true: from working the vines to tasting our wines with wine lovers.
My oldest memory of wine goes back to Christmas meals. Having a winegrowing family, the table was furnished with bottles. Each of our parents would in turn stand up and explain how they made each wine with very technical terms. As children, we looked at them with wide eyes full of admiration but also of misunderstanding! I remember people who were cheerful, happy, and proud. Their approach was very qualitative in order to produce the best possible wine, the marketing stage being secondary.
What I regret today in our profession is that trade has taken a very important part in the life of a winegrower. I consider myself very lucky to produce Muscat de Beaumes de Venise, it is an exceptional vineyard with a thousand-year history that touches me and speaks for itself. To this day, we are still trying to find traces of those Greeks and Romans who marked the past of this land. The soil is quite particular because it comes from the Miocene on small, gravelly slopes.
But I prefer to let you discover all this by yourself because everyone is welcome at the Ladies' Rock! Come and see the soil, touch the grapes, smell its aromas... you will understand why the Beaumes de Venise terroir is so precious!
The Bernard family has been running the Domaine du Rocher des Dames for many years... Four generations to be precise! It is on 10 ha of Miocene sandy soil that this family works the vines to produce its wines from the Beaume de Venise appellation.
