Facing the Dentelles de Montmirail, Frédéri Férigoule cultivates 17 hectares of vines in the Vacqueyras appellation on a magnificent terroir of rolled pebbles. Certified organic and biodynamic agriculture, the wines of the Domaine Sang des Cailloux are renowned for their high maturity and great richness. Strict yield control and a more than avant-garde mindset have given this estate a reputation as a pioneer that has continued to grow over the years.

Our story

I took over my father's estate in 2015, although he is still there to support me because, as is well known, when the vine becomes a passion, it never leaves us! Created in 1939, Serge Férigoule arrived at the estate in the 1980s. At that time, the trend was to make volume at all costs. A pioneer without knowing it, he works according to organic and biodynamic cultivation methods with the ambition of selling his wines in bottles rather than in bulk. Not seeking recognition but rather independence, he only had his wines labelled in 2008, although he had not used pesticides since the 1990s. Today, I am writing the history of the estate in turn and striving to produce fresh wines, although we are experiencing more and more periods of drought in the Rhône Valley. It is a long-term task since I intend to develop the secondary varieties of the appellation to perpetuate the quality of our wines and continue to serve light nectars with a beautiful acid structure.

Other little stories

My oldest wine-related memory? I must have been 5 years old, and my father was tasting a Belgian tourist bus. He had asked me to empty the glasses but when there was a bottom left, I dipped my lips in it... To tell you the truth, I could name hundreds of memories related to wine! Being a family estate, I always harvest with my sister, my wife... If someone had to describe me in one word, I would say that I am an "earthman": I like being in my vines every day, seeing them evolve with the seasons... Naturally very solitary, I am in my lands and I am well there. I particularly like the Doucinello cuvée. It is a fresh, mineral wine, for which we have drawn everything we need from the soil!
