This area can be described as a concentrate of the great Bordeaux terroirs. Especially since the area benefits from more sunshine, less extreme temperatures but also a little less rainfall. Being located on an estuary protects the vines from freezing.
The wine history of this region dates back to the 2nd century when the Romans planted Vitis Biturica, known as the ancestor of Cabernet. The current Côtes de Bourg appellation dates back to 1920. In the region, 400 winegrowers share the land and ⅔ are independent winegrowers.
To the eye, the Côtes-de-Bourg in red are dark and deep. The nose is characterized by red and woody fruit aromas. On the palate, the tannins are silky and supple. The roundness is due to the presence of malbec. The wine is well-structured, with a chocolaty side.
To the eye, the white wines have a beautiful yellow colour with green reflections. The bouquet is dominated by floral notes. On the palate, the wines are rich and harmonious.
These wines can be kept between 3 and 8 years for reds and 2 to 3 years for whites.
