Bordeaux
The Bordeaux regional appellation is produced throughout the Bordeaux wine region. The vineyards cover 42,600 hectares and produce 2,236,700 hectoliters of wine annually. Bordeaux red wines are primarily made from Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Cabernet Franc can also be included in the blend, adding roundness and spice. In some blends, Petit Verdot, Malbec, and Carmenère are used as secondary grape varieties. Bordeaux is the best-selling wine appellation in the world! These wines are ideal for drinking young. However, in recent years, some winemakers have been producing structured wines aged in oak barrels. Visually, Bordeaux wine is, as its name suggests, Bordeaux! The distribution of grape varieties results in a rather varied nose, ranging from blackcurrant to violet. On the palate, Bordeaux wines are supple with pleasant tannins.
