Château de Nages - Gassier Family
Located in the southern Rhône Valley, Château de Nages, owned by the Gassier family, is situated in the Costières de Nîmes appellation. The estate is managed by Michel Gassier, the fourth generation of the family, who took over full-time management in the early 1990s.
The vineyard has been managed organically for many years, with a focus on soil preservation, vine balance, and consistent ripening. The plots lie on terroirs of rolled pebbles and deep soils, characteristic of the area, which promote structured yet balanced wines.
In recent years, the estate has embarked on a gradual shift towards regenerative agriculture practices, aiming to improve soil fertility and biodiversity. This approach relies in particular on reducing tillage, establishing cover crops, diversifying crops, and occasionally integrating animals into the vineyards. This transition is part of a long-term vision focused on the vineyard's resilience.
The winemaking process aims to preserve the clarity of the Mediterranean grape varieties and the expression of the terroir, with controlled extractions and aging tailored to the desired profiles. All the cuvées offer a structured and coherent interpretation of the Costières de Nîmes, combining maturity, freshness, and precision.
Since 2022, Isabel Gassier has joined the estate, accompanying this evolution of agricultural practices and participating in the continuity of the family project.
